The Counting House
An accountancy practice based in South East London providing accountancy and taxation assistance to small businesses, particularly in the Arts and Media Sector
The practice has been going since 1990, originally (and unimaginatively) called Margaret Murray Accountancy Services, changing to The Counting House around 2012.
The philosophy has always been about making things more straightforward for our clients. Tax, accounts and allied topics tend to strike fear in the hearts of many, particularly those of a more creative bent and I’ve always felt strongly that it doesn’t have to be that way. With some common-sense explanations, and down to earth conversation around the topics, most people can arrive at a reasonable grasp of what they need to understand. We have continued to stick with this approach through the years, doing our best to be helpful, to foster an atmosphere of openness to questions and explanations and to demystifying the numbers as far as possible.
We continue to enjoy the satisfaction of guiding clients out of the dark forest of brown envelope fear and form-filling hatred and into the beautiful sunlit clearing where being organised brings joy and where spreadsheet-love reigns. Mostly, anyway…
